Bye, Chun

Wow--Chun's really gone. This morning I looked at his blog, and he had posted saying he wasn't going to blog anymore and, moreover, was going to try to stop reading blogs. I'll admit, I thought it was a joke, but I guess not. I wonder what brought this on?

Reasons to stop blogging

I've not read Chun but I will contribute that the [many] times I've considered not blogging came on the heels of a blogluttony (ha). As one who is easily addicted to just about anything (hence the obsession with balance), I have ambivalent feelings about my blogging and sometimes feel that I'm too into it.

Btw, I think I said this earlier, but unsure and too lazy to look, but I love the new black and white photo.

Too into it

I know I'm too into blogging. :) I get separation anxiety when I can't blog due to lack of internet access.

Thanks for the photo compliment!

On my Livejournal, friends ha

On my Livejournal, friends have told me many times how prolific my blogging is. They, for their part, hardly blog at all, so I can't say they don't understand. In July 2003 (I started my Livejournal in May 2002), I made the decision to quit posting for the entire month of August. I did so. In the meantime, I made myself a Xanga and wrote THERE instead. I don't publicize my Xanga, however, and I retain my Livejournal as my primary blog.

When John Lovas (whose final I took only yesterday) set me up with a blog, I found that I had more than enough motivation to blog both on the De Anza blog AND my Livejournal. As long as I was posting, I could post to both regularly, and I did not cross-post very often. (When I did, it was because I felt I had something important to say to everyone who might read.)

This is to say, I suppose, that I've had some experience with the "blugluttony" mentioned by another commenter. There's something addictive knowing that your voice can be heard, even if no one's reading. You don't really KNOW who's reading, but you know that all these entries are more or less permanent, so someone can eventually read them, if not immediately. It's an addictive thought.

Internet as Megaphone

Last night's Itchy & Scratchy was, without a doubt, the
worst episode ever. Rest assured I was on the internet
within minutes registering my disgust throughout the
world..

:) I've always loved that about the internet. Way before I started blogging, I was active on discussion boards, and I emailed politicians, etc. Do you still post to your Xanga site? I've been curious lately about how many people have a secret, anonymous blog. There was that honest bloggers quiz meme circulating recently, and one of the questions was, "Do you have another secret blog in which you write about being depressed, slutty, or a liar?" Not that you write about those things, but still...
