Strange Dream About Blog

I told Charlie about this dream I had the other night, and he thought it was odd--and VERY geeky. He encouraged me to post about it, so here goes: I dreamed that I went to my admin menu in my blog, then to accounts, then to permissions. I gave the following permissions to all registered users:

create pages

create php content

create stories

create url aliases

edit own blog

edit own pages

edit own stories

But I didn't announce it here; I wanted to see if people noticed that they had the new options the next time they logged in. After I changed the permissions, I went to sleep (in the dream). Then (in the dream) I woke up and shuffled over to the computer as I always do right after I make my bed. I called up my blog and was horrified at what I saw: Tons of people had posted all kinds of random stuff--extreme neoconservative pontification, hate speech, pr0n, you name it. And there were 27 comments under every post. I immediately changed the permissions back and set about deleting all the evidence of my failed experiment.

Charlie thinks it's strange that I dream about the web. I dream about it all the time. Back when the Ms. message boards were still around, I dreamed about some of the posters on there, even though I'd never met them. They'd just find their way into my dreams somehow, most of the time taking non-human forms. One in particular was a big glob of primordial ooze. Anyone else dream about the web, or about your blog?

me too!

Oh, good. Either I'm not as big a nerd as I thought, or other people are as nerdy as I am.

I have dreams about the internet all the time, and about people I read, and about blogging and bloggers. I've written more than one post in my sleep that I was shocked didn't actually appear. (This is true for usenet and other stuff I was involved in beforehand. And Tetris and Freecell. Other games, too.)

I recently had a dream that my car broke down and I was searching out info for it online, but all the info on Focuses everywhere was all under George, so I had to search for "George engine repair". That was probably not so meaningful, though it was quite a weird dream.

not me, but . . .

well, i guess i'm not geeky enough. never dream about the internet :)

but then again, i have dreamt about software code before where i'm dreaming only about the code, where i'm seeing the code only. very matrix/snow crash like.

Dream about Chun

Last night, I dreamed Chun started his blog up again.

Techie dreams

Hell I have to admit that I dream about technologies of all kinds...blogs, html, games, you name it. Ever dreamed up every possible combination equaling 13 with playing cards? That was the worst because it wasn't even a game with a narrative element!!!

Dreaming the Net

I don't dream about the net but I have dreamed about fellow bloggers. I almost always wake up thinking about what I will blog or what I did blog. (OK trying to remember, but anyway.)

Not that you asked but that sounds very much like a dream about gaining (or losing) control. There weren't any gators in it, were there? ;)

Even worse?

So am I a big loser if I've had dreams about television shows/characters? I once dreamt an entire invented episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (during a long streak of repeats on TV), and just last night, Brian Kinney (character from QAF) appeared in one of my dreams. Unfortunately, I don't remember what he was doing there. ;)

Another blog dream

When I was out with friends tonight at a Telephone show, I remembered another blog dream I had: I found out some people had bought all these domain names that were derivatives of mine, like culturecattoys.net, culturecatstyle.net, culturecatparty.net, and so on. They were using the sites to sell girlie stuff like you'd find on Naughty Secretary Club, La Petite Princesse, or Sparkle Craft.
