What I'm working on:
It's another prototype for a hat I'm making for my friend D.--Michelle got the first one, since I deemed it too feminine for him (but great for a woman, as evidenced by Michelle's picture). This one, too, is up for grabs if anyone wants it; I'm just doing it to get the hang of reducing in rib stitch. I want to use this pattern for the real hat.
I'm Clancy Ratliff, an associate professor in the Department of English at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where I am also the Assistant Director of First-Year Writing. I'm married with three children.

I have the world's biggest head. Seriously. It's huge. I can't wear most women's hats, or half of men's. What's up with that "one size fits all"?
I have no idea how much hats stretch, but if you think it would fit, yes, I'd love it. I'm up in the cold north. Thanks.

Knitter's Review? You mean here? I've never posted there. I wonder if someone is masquerading as me? I did post recently to the Twin Cities Stitch'n'Bitch Yahoo! group; could you have seen me there?
That photograph is a little misleading...the colors are darker than they look, more jewel-tone. You probably wouldn't want the yarn; I bought it when I was first starting to knit and didn't know there were fabulous local yarn stores, so I was buying all my yarn at JoAnn. It's acrylic Red Heart yarn. I'm almost done with the hat, got it on double-pointed needles now and am reducing. If you're around here and are going to one of the S'n'B gatherings in the next week or so, you're welcome to the rest of the skein. There's more than enough for another hat. :-)

Yes! You're right. I saw your post on the Stitch 'n Bitch site. Silly me - I must have been having a blonde moment. :) Say, where did you end up the other night. You were thinking about trying 2 knitting groups. I might try one this Sunday afternoon, 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. at Borealis Yarns. I mentioned that I'm pretty new to this and was told that anyone can come. Maybe I'll see you there sometime. Oh, I looked up the W Ketchup which was too funny! Hope you have a good weekend. -Becky
