The Bell Tolls
I'm waking up every day with heart-pounding anxiety. Not even morning dancing is helping, but now I'm listening to Annie Lennox's cover of "Whiter Shade of Pale," and it's calming me down a little.
Prelims start tomorrow at 8 a.m.
It's going to be okay, right? At this point I'm trying to focus on my upcoming tour of Indiana. On the morning of 16 August, I'm emailing in my last exam and driving off to Bloomington. I'll also be stopping in Lafayette for a day or two and hope to see at least three friends while there.

You're going to be just fine!
Dear Clancy, don't worry: it will be all right, and it will all seem like a bad dream in the end. Well, maybe not even that bad--some of us can actually learn something during all this. You're just going through the obligatory motions of the academic grinding machine-and I have a feeling you'll do exceptionally well. Either way, it's going to be all right. The most important thing is, after all, the dissertation. Think of the promised reward (Indiana)--it helps! Good luck, or as we say in Romanian for all exam situations, BAFTA!

Thanks
Aaaww, Cristina--I miss you so much!
20 more days and I'll be on the road, nothing but sunshine and radio waves...
People have told me I should get a CD player for my car, but I like the serendipity of the radio. :)
you'll be great
You'll be fine, Clancy. Remember that all that matters with these things is that you pass them, and you will. You've done everything you can do about it by now, and I recommend you just treat yourself well today: see a movie, knit, dance some more, whatever.
And we will all be sending you positive karma :-)

Good luck
I can't do much more than echo the sentiments below: good luck with exams! You will do well, and plenty of folks are sending good thoughts your way!

What everyone else said -- yo
What everyone else said -- you're gonna knock 'em out of the park. Deep breaths, and away you go. :)

Things to keep in mind
Remember: this is, for better or worse, just a waystop on the road, a pro-forma exercise that you're already way ahead of. Get good rest tonight, start the day with a good breakfast, and go in there and kick butt.

Go and Roar!
You'll be fine! Remind yourself how far you've come, how much you've accomplished, the things you've done that you never thought you could/would/should.
Try taking a bath in the morning. Tt soothes me immensely on days that I wake feeling tense. I don't always have time but sometimes if time is short, I put the clock in the bathroom and take one anyhow while the boys are watching a cartoon and it's amazing how much more relaxed my muscles feel even just ten measley minutes.
Hang in there. :)

We're all rooting for ya, Clancy.
Eat well, sleep well, and you'll do very well. Cheers from California.

go, Clancy!
Darn, I wish I'd caught you in time to wish you luck before, too, but you know I'm always wishing you the best. I hope you're slaying 'em and I hope your trip will be a blast. :)
