Gold Mine

This post at Laurie's combined with my penchant for 80s young adult fiction got me thinking...what with all the vintage-mania going on, t-shirts with images of Elizabeth and Jessica Wakefield like this:

or this:

or this:

or a Ramona Quimby t-shirt with an image like this:

or even Forever by Judy Blume:

would really sell. I'll tell you what, Forever was some sixth-grade slumber party super-illicit smut! :D I know it would be breaking copyright laws, but someone ought to do it! What do you think, should I decide against the whole academia thing and start an online business? :P

You Cannot Commercialize Ralph!

I think I read a copy of Forever that was passed around a group of about ten girls. (Yes -- you called it -- in either sixth or seventh grade.) I'm fairly certain, as well, that at some point someone higher up in the social rank of the circle took it from me and I had to bide my time til its return. It was the most dog-eared book I've ever seen.

Michelle

Ralph

My! You have a good memory. When I saw that, I thought, no, his name was Michael! I checked Amazon and indeed, it is Michael. But then I remembered...oh, yeah...Ralph was the nickname of Michael's... ;)

The Secret of the Old Clock

I could really go for this one on a t-shirt too:

See, it's important to have the right generation of book cover. As I was searching for images, I noticed that subsequent editions of Forever had been released, as well as new editions of the Nancy Drew and Sweet Valley High books. The ones I've shown here are the ones I read back in the day.

those are also the exact edit

those are also the exact editions of SVH that i owned. i would LOVE to have those t-shirts. LOVE it.

i also think it's telling that I not only remember the plots of the ones you put up, but can identify in each picture, which is jessica and which is elizabeth (hint: liz always has her hair pulled back, because she is studious, while jessica's is always down and freer, because she is the wild one).
