First Thought in the Morning

Some people think of a particular person they love first thing in the morning. Not I. My first thought is, "Don't hit snooze! Don't go back to sleep! Other people are already up and getting work done!" It's like the slogan on a t-shirt worn by girls on the volleyball team back when I was in junior high: "The player who will beat you tomorrow is practicing today." Yeah...I'm a freak.

If it makes you feel better,

If it makes you feel better, I always think the same thing. I don't know that I've ever thought of the person I love first thing in the morning. Usually my first thought is something along the lines of "OH NO! NO, NO, NO!"

My second thought is, "COFFEE! COFFEE RIGHT THIS MINUTE!"

Then my third thought is of the person I love. "Wish ______ were here." Or, if I'm lucky, "I'm so glad _________ is here." But it's always third.

First Thought in the Morning

It is consistent
It never varies
It is always redundant like these lines
It is coffee coffee coffee. Nothing else matters before coffee.

But not the other way around...

When I'm winding down for the night, I don't think: "Stay awake! Other people are still up and getting work done!" Funny how that works. Thanks, Jenny and Amy, for sharing your first thoughts of the morning. Coffee is right up there for me too, especially when I've bought a new kind I haven't tried before; I get all excited about brewing it, anticipating how good it'll smell and taste.

i agree.

coffee, it is. coffee it shall forever be. hail to the bean.

i'm not like that at all. i have a major motivation deficiency. esp in the morning.. my first thought is.. "ok.. how many more seconds of sleep can i get before i must must must get up and get to work without being toooo late"....every second counts, right? i even go to work drrty so i dont have to get up in enough time to shower.
