I hate computer repair
Ah, I've replaced the heatsink fan, so no siren noise anymore. What a pain, though. This is what I've been looking at for the last little while:

Mmm, wires and buses.

Anyway, whow, Nerd Alert! I'm impressed. Mobos, heat sinks, and processor sockets can be more than intimidating. Holla.

Ah, just what you need before
Ah, just what you need before CCCCs. :-0 Maybe I should send Tucker over to help.

All fixed
No, it's okay; it's all fixed now. I put the new fan on and everything is up and running again. I don't think Tucker would be much help anyway; she'd have just jumped on top of the cabinets and peered down at me as I worked, quite possibly shedding fur onto my motherboard.
I have a new CPU too, but I don't know if the BIOS is set up so that it will be recognized. I'd like to install the new CPU, but I can't until I resolve this problem.
By the way, I think I've finally figured out just the right amount of heatsink compound to put on the back of the CPU. I had trouble with that part at first (I put together the computer I have now).
By the way, Paolo
