Help?

I'm not sure "help" is the word here. To know that, even when you get into the top 3, it's still a roll of the dice, or it has nothing to do with me? I guess it makes me more fatalistic, if that's any help...

Glimmer of hope!

One MLA interview. :-)

Urge to panic...fading...fading...fading -- rising! Fading...fading...gone.

Congrats!

...on both the MLA interview and the articles. Here's to more!

Lâche pas la patate!

Just remembered that lovely little Cajun expression. How perfect and needed it is during this stressful time.

Something to keep in mind ...

... is that you will get hired.

No one yet knows where you'll get hired, but no one familiar with your situation doubts that you will get hired. Even the people who granted you the MLA interview know that. If they didn't see you as a worthwhile faculty member, they wouldn't have asked you to interview with them. Now, they may or may not decide that you're a good fit for their university. For that matter, you may or may not decide that you're a good fit for that university. But you'll be a good fit somewhere.

When my kids get nervous during a movie, they sometimes ask, "Does this have a happy ending?" After I assure them that it does, they relax and enjoy it. I think it helps most people, during nervous times, to focus on the happy ending.

And in the meantime, don't drop the potato. :-)

Tom

Thanks

That really helps.
