Ooo, Ooo, Child

Ever have a day when you just don't want to do all those things you have to do? Well, today's like that for me. I just want to curl up in my apartment and watch the movie Riding in Cars with Boys. Eh, for now I'll have to settle for listening to "Ooo, Ooo, Child" by the Five Stairsteps as I get ready to do all those things I have to do. I don't own the Riding in Cars with Boys soundtrack, but I know that song was on it.

I have a case of the Mondays! (If you haven't seen Office Space, see it now.)

Gay Characters on TV

Now I'm on a roll, Elle!! For context: Elle linked to a list of gay characters on TV, saying it is far from complete. Ain't that the truth! I mentioned more in one comment to her blog, and now I'm thinking of more still: Mariel Hemingway's character and Roseanne's boss Leon on Roseanne, Waylon Smithers on The Simpsons, Blanche's brother Clayton who came out to Blanche and Dorothy's friend who had a crush on Rose on The Golden Girls, Stanford Blatch on Sex and the City, hmmm, let me go to Jump the Shark for more jogging of the memory...okay:

Billy, the gay teenager, in One Life to Live

WILLOW AND TARA (and Kennedy) in Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Ricky Vasquez in My So-Called Life

Okay, that's all I can think of for now. On an unrelated note, I saw Freddy vs. Jason last night. How campy and nostalgic. Makes me want to rent all the Nightmare on Elm St. movies again.

Lesson for the day: Don't ever do a Google search for "golden girls" + lesbian if you're looking for information on THE TV SHOW. Yikes!!!!

State of Anhedonia

Ugh, I am so burned out right now. I should be gearing up for the fall semester, all bright-eyed and refreshed, but all the work I've been doing this summer has really sucked the life out of me. Maybe Michfest will rejuvenate me. The melancholy just hit me today; last night I saw Bend It Like Beckham and came away from it with all the euphoria you'd expect from a feel-good movie. Now, though...another story. :-(

I'm Neo!

You are Neo
You are Neo, from "The Matrix." You
display a perfect fusion of heroism and
compassion.

What Matrix Persona Are You?
brought to you by Quizilla

Huh? I broke my toe after seeing The Matrix Reloaded, after Amy and I tried to re-enact the scene with Neo and all the Smiths! Maybe every end result of the test is Neo. Take it and tell me what you get!

Uh, today must be quiz day, because I just also took the Geek Quiz. I got "27.0217% - Total Geek."
